We are fortunate and proud to have an amazing team who are not only dedicated to innovating new PORON® Cushioning Technologies, but also eager to test these new products in their daily lives.   We’ve found these stories to be so varied and creative we’ve decided to share them with you on our new From the Field blog series.  We hope you enjoy!

First up is James Whitney, Production Coordinator – PORON Cushioning Molded Products.

Hello my name is James Whitney.  I am 50 years old and recently started jogging.  I started out slow, running about a quarter mile, then walking a half mile – yet continually built up my distance.  I had been running for a little over two months, was regularly running up to 3 miles every other day and feeling good about myself.

But after some time, I had to purchase new running shoes to help alleviate the pain I started to feel in my ankles and in my knees.  They certainly helped and I started to push for more distance.  Then I broke down with a gimpy knee and was forced to sit for two weeks.   It was the middle of the summer and I can’t say I minded a lot, but I did miss what running did for me.  I wanted to run again and want to give my body any benefit I could to help with the constant pounding.

It was at this time that I decided to test Rogers’ PORON® Cushioning insoles in my running shoes.  Within my first steps, I noticed that there was a very big difference in how they felt and was excited to try them out running.  Yet, I knew the big test would be down the road as I increased time and distance.

Well that was in August when I started running again and in November of 2012 I ran my first ever 7K road race, the Manchester CT Turkey day race.  My number was #1076 and I finished in 56 minutes, which was good for 10,110th or something place – but more important I am still running and have no ankle or back pain!

I can honestly say I am very satisfied and will be a forever supporter of PORON Cushioning products.  And for the record, I am now on my second pair of running shoes and the same PORON Cushioning inserts are still doing the job.

Check back next year when I break the 50 minute mark in the annual Manchester Road race.  Keep on trucking…

Thank you Jim for sharing your story and keep us updated on those races!  For additional quotes and PORON tester comments, check out The Cushioning Experience section of our website.   We’d love to hear about your PORON Cushioning experience!  Send us your comments.
