Preventing Foot Injuries…One Boot At A Time

Posted by Joe Blair on Friday, September 27th, 2013 | No Comments »

The anatomy of the foot is extremely complex, with 26 bones, 30 joints, 19 muscles and over 100 ligaments. The good folks at Justin Original Workboots (“JOW”) understand how important all these parts are which is why they trust PORON® XRD® Technology to help protect many of those differentFoot photo pieces.

The complex mechanics of the foot can lead to severe injury if not protected correctly.  According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 60,000 foot injuries per year result in lost work days.  They also state that 75% of foot injuries occurred when workers were not in compliance.  Let me say this again in a different way…75% occurred when not wearing the proper footwear.  Pretty amazing numbers if you ask me.

According to the National Council on Compensation Insurance, foot injuries cost employers an average of $9,600 per lost work day, and a serious foot injury can have a dramatic effect on the quality of life both at work and at home.

Over the next few days, Justin Original Workboots will be showing off their boots that protect your feet from these costly injuries.  These boots will be on display at the National Safety Council Congress & Expo, the world’s largest “must attend” event for safety, health, and environmental professionals, which will take place September 28th – October 4th in Chicago.

Two boots JOW will be featuring have MetGuards designed with PORON XRD Materials to protect people from top of the foot injuries which happen when the foot is impacted by beams, logs or other falling objects.  The JOW Metguard overlays the steel box toe and runs to the top of the instep, providing armor-like protection for the metatarsals.  These boots meet or exceed standards for impact protection (ASTM F2413-11). What does all tJOW_WK4630_Lhat mean…less injury potential for you and your co-workers!

The two Justin Original Workboot styles feature these MetGuards are the Wyoming Waterproof 8” and 10”.  They feature steel toes, waterproof construction, electrical hazard rating, and Metguard Instep Protection.  Check them out on the Justin website, and be sure to watch the videos that showcase PORON XRD Protection and Metguard!  To view our favorite video, click here…trust us, you’ll enjoy it.
