Promotion Season is Here!
After months of research, planning, ordering and organizing, the official kick-off to our event sponsorships has arrived. PORON® Cushioning began the 2011 event season with the Ragnar Relay – NY running race May 13 – 14 and culminates the season with the Bimblers Bluff 50k in Guilford, CT on October 23.
The Ragnar Relay – NY was a fabulous event and we were so excited to be a part of the relay once again. 182 teams started their 197 mile journey in Bethel, NY (home of the 1969 Woodstock Festival) and finished on the Hudson River just north of NYC in Dobbs Ferry. Over 2,100 athletes competed in the race where each runner took on the role of running three stages along the course.
Obviously, running 15 or so miles in 24 hours is not for the faint of heart but, this race was not restricted to marathoners or ultra runners. Runners of all abilities were on hand and smiles were not hard to come by especially in a race that gave out prizes for best team costumes, best decorated van and best team name. Once teams crossed the finish line, they were greeted with medals and a full on party hosted by event organizers…cold beverages, BBQ, music and lots of free gear was handed out by the sponsors including yours truly.
Next up on the agenda, we will focus efforts to our season long partnership with the Dan Duquette Sports Academy in Hinsdale, MA. Dan, former General Manager for the Boston Red Sox, has taken his love for the game and built a state of the art facility for kids of all ages to sharpen their skills while learning from the best in the business. But don’t worry…the facility is not all baseball business. Campers and tournament players will enjoy swimming, basketball, a team’s course and much more.
During this time, we will also be spreading the good news about our partnership with the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics, CT. The goal for this years run is to raise over $500,000 and we are honored to be a part of this fantastic organization.
We meet the peak of the summer by heading north to Hayward, WI to attend the Lumberjack World Championships. This will be the 52nd year of the event and it will not disappoint newcomers or returning regulars. Everything for the 90’ Speed Climb to the Hot Saw competition will test these amazing athletes’ strength, skills and stamina. Come join us to help celebrate our countries rich logging history in the Lumberjack Bowl.
Moving into the early fall, we are excited to announce our newest partnership with Reach the Beach taking place September 16th – 17th in New Hampshire. Over 4,500 athletes are expected which is sure to guarantee a great race and an even better party. Similar to the events above, our street team will be on hand providing free gear to all who visit the PORON Cushioning booth.
Last but for sure not least is the Bimblers Bluff 50k. Think your tough enough to take on 50k of woodlands in Guilford, CT? This is the race for you but be advised…this is not your typical trail run. Numerous tree stumps, rocks and the legendary “Bluff” (steepest part of the course) will test all entries. Let’s put it this way, there is an award for “Best Blood” and there are usually half a dozen runners lobbying to take home the distinguished prize. Please note…this race has, and will, sell out fast so make sure you hit their site and sign up today…if you are brave enough.
It’s a full schedule but we hope to add a few more events into the mix. Keep posted to our Facebook page, web site, and of course, here on our blog, for updates as well as free gear giveaways. Hope to see you on the road.
